Reading

Have you ever read a really good book that changed your mind on something?
well this text is about the satisfaction of reading!

I remember exactly the first story I was able to read by myself, it was Peter and the Wolf.I felt so delighted when I turned the last page: I had read this whole book on my own, without any help from the teacher. I was probably five years old, and I’ve never stop reading books and novels since then. Reading is actually one of my passions and I can become addicted to a book when I find it interesting.
This is actually the first satisfaction of reading for me: being so interested in a book that you don’t want to drop it even to go to lunch or to talk to someone. If you asked my brother how I am when I am reading they will tell you that I’m just locked in my room the whole day long, and whenever I come back from school, I just climb up the stairs and get back to my reading.
A book can keep you away from your own life for a bit which is amazing I think. When you are reading, all your problems just disappear and don’t come back as soon as you are finished reading because you are thinking about the book, or the characters. It makes you travel, sometimes you can even hear the voices of the characters, see their faces and imagine exactly how they will react in every situation. When you get to know the characters better, sometimes you just imagine yourself as being their friends or the brothers and sisters. To be honest with you, I once had a “crush” on one character of a series of books I was reading. I don’t exactly know why but I think it’s because I was so caught in the story that I could even feel the emotions of the characters and share them with their owners. I don’t know if I am the only person who does that but I always cry at the end of some books. I don’t force myself to cry, I just can’t control it, the tears just burst when there’s a tragic moment in a book.
I have always loved to read the books I enjoyed twice, in this case as well I don’t know why but it makes me feel so happy about everything. And after that, when you know the novel really well, you start thinking about how different the book could have been if the author didn’t write a chapter that way or you start discussing the book with friends and family.
One of the best things about reading is that it creates a dialogue between some people who doesn’t really know each other. For example, last summer I went to a summer camp where I didn’t know anyone. The first person I met there started talking about books, and the conversation going on, I realized we had exactly the same taste for books. Books also make you learn about some topics you would have never thought about; they make you think about your life choices, your dreams, your family, everything.
Some people don’t like reading, and to be honest with you I don’t really understand them! They say that reading is boring and that it doesn’t change anything to read or not to read. I don’t really agree with that because as I said before, reading can give you so much that it cannot be boring, and it makes a big difference to read or not to read. For me, reading has helped me to develop my imagination and my hobby of writing stories; for my big brother it has developed his art skills; and for my younger brother, it has developed his sense of adventure and his taste for outdoors activities.
I would say that reading a different book can change your entire view on something. “All  the bright places” I read this book during the Christmas holidays, it’s a novel about suicide and love, and sincerely, I will never think about people committing suicide the same way, same thing with depression.
To conclude I’d say that reading has helped me to grow up and to look at my life from another point of view which I think is the best thing that can actually happen.
